James J. Silvernail

James J. Silvernail began his employment with the District on April 25, 2005. Chief Silvernail has been in the Fire Service for over 40 years. He was employed by Creve Coeur Fire District in 1964 until he began serving at Ballwin (Metro West) Fire District in 1970. Silvernail began his career volunteering with Ballwin at the age of 15. Chief Silvernail was promoted to Lieutenant in 1972; Deputy Chief in 1974; Assistant Chief in 1976 and was promoted to the position of Chief of Ballwin Fire Protection District in 1980. He retired from Metro West Fire District after serving for 23 years as chief. Silvernail came out of retirement to guide the fine men and women at Mehlville Fire Protection District. Silvernail is known for his strong leadership abilities and believes rules and policy protect his employees and serve the citizens of the District well.
