Station House #1 is located in the Heart of South County at Lindbergh and
Lemay Ferry. This engine house was built in 1957 and served as the first
home of the Mehlville Fire Department and its administration offices.
Station #1 also housed the Fire Alarm Dispatching services for the fire
department and the surrounding community from 1968 to 1971. Presently, there
is a Pumper company 1710 manned with three personnel and ALS ambulance 1717
with two Paramedics assigned to this station house. Because of this fire stations
strategic location in terms of easy access to the main state highways,
thoroughfares, business community and the general population density, this
station answers in excess of 1200 Fire and EMS calls per year. Of the
stations of the Mehlville Fire Protection District engine house is the
busiest overall. This station covers an area from Reavis Barracks Road on
the North to Mattis Road on the South. I-55 on the West to the Mississippi
River on the East. Engine House is approximately 5300 square feet.
